Installation instructions SB-4148R Rear Sway Bar for 1941-1948 Ford Car
Use with Chassis Engineering Rear End Mounting Kits
1, In order to get clearance for the bar, the crossmember lip must be bent down (or cut and seam re-welded) in the area shown. At a distance of 10 inches, the bar should be 5/8 inch from the crossmember. Bar must clear both the crossmember and the gas tank.
2. Place D-shaped rubber bushings on the bar, inline with the frame rails. Install frame brackets over D bushings and clamp entire unit in place on the frame. Check bar for clearance again.
Bar should clear at least 1/4 inch everywhere. Allow extra clearance for gas tank. Drill holes in frame and bolt swaybar in place. Arms extend forward.
3. Assemble linkage as shown. Do not over tighten.
Caution: Remove gas tank and take all needed precautions for safety. Do not cut or weld before assuring yourself that there is no danger of fire or explosion. Be sure fire extinguishers are near.
